Bad App. Not worth the money
The app shuts down spontaneously. It is very difficult to navigate. It would be a great thing to have that done properly as I think it would be a great asset which will improve the popularity of the paper and connects the younger computer and iPad savvy people to their city and community. Links and videos would be also a good thing to add.

Rip off
Often have to load current edition twice, it restricts how much I can zoom in, will not let you do cross word or other puzzles. Simply the worst reader app out there, and the paperless subscription price is very high.

Great 1st Effort! Performance Tip for Users...
I have waited so long for this! I have refused to get a paper subscription because by the time you get it, its already old news to the average Internet savvy person and at no cost. With that said every time I stopped at a local gas station or supermarket I longingly looked at the Plain Dealer and would miss the in-depth local centric news, articles and editorials. This app looks great on the IPad and unlike the old Kindle version (which I ditched a long time ago) it includes every stitch of the printed version. Despite what at least one review has stated I find the app incredibly easy to navigate... you literally feel like you are navigating an actual newspaper (more importantly the actual Cleveland Plain Dealer) as opposed to an 'app' that has been populated with news (please don't change this PD!). Regarding performance... I am an IPad 2 user, but this probably goes for the 1st Gen too... Make sure you have installed THE LATEST version of IOS 5! There is more than one, and it has resolved issues with other apps that I was having. No speed, load or download problems.

Need to be fixed!
The app is just a reader of a PDF of the paper. Good enough for me to be able to read the local paper that I pay for while away on business trip. If you have daily home delivery of the newspaper, the the subscription is just about $1/month. However, the app at this point is not working well. I have not being able to use since it keeps crashing. Need fixing soon...

Slow, unintuitive clinker
The demo edition took almost 5 minutes to load and is stuck at 99%. Navigation is unintuitive - example: if I choose to read the text version why do I need to still see all the graphics and photos above the text (which takes up valuable page real estate). Take a look at how kindle does newspapers and learn from that layout. I also dislike subscriptions that auto renew. Nice try, PD but like the Browns, this app is not ready to compete in the real world.

Great app at first
This app seemed ok the first day I used it but now it has just crashed for the 3rd time. Because it won't remember your password, each time you have to re-logon and it starts from the beginning, not the last page you were reading. I was reading the paper using the Safari browser but liked this version better if it would stop crashing. This is an update. Nothing has been done to fix this app in the several days since my last complaint. I find it hard to believe I'm the only user and that I'm the only one having trouble with this app. It crashes over and over each time I try to use it. I have the original iPad. I guess I have to give up. I can't find anywhere else to complain about this.
