Great thermostat, mediocre app
Connecting to my thermostat via the app has been sporadic at best. When it works it's great, but failing to connect 25% of the time is unacceptable. The big selling point in the thermostat is the ability to adjust and track remotely - Nest had better get their act together ASAP!

Intermittent (?) symbol can't control thermostat!! The Nest tells me that is not connected to the Internet and get when I go to thermostat and it confirms it is connected so there's something wrong with the app.

Poor connectivity
I have 3 nest thermostats in my home and frequently 2 if them will be "disconnected" from the app even though they are connected to wifi. If this issue continues I will return the nest.

Now Broken
After a few months of use, Nest can no longer connect consistently. Also there's no setting to control just the fan.

Connection issues.
The thermostat is terrific, easily installed and set up. It is tangibly improving our heating performance from the start. The iPad app works well the iPhone app disconnects constantly. The help page suggests it could be the Nest battery or a router issue but that is not the case. Given the overall quality of the product I assume this will be resolved quickly. I look forward to re-reviewing it.

Love it.
I purchased a gen 1 over eBay. I've wanted one of these for a while, but couldn't stomache the $250. Picked up a brand new gen 1 for $180 shipped. The only issue I had was the gen 1 was an early gen 1 with early firmware load. There is no easy way to get to the current update. The unit has to perform each update in sequence. And, you can force or trigger the updates. They appear to update on their choosing. This was confirmed by support which I don't usually need to telephone but was concerned by the high temp reading of the thermometer. Once it completed about five updates, it worked great. The thermometer was incorrectly reading the temperature due to the heat from the updates, but after it sat for a while unused, I believe it is now accurate. I've had good luck logging in and connecting. This was a concern voiced by most of the negative reviews of this app. I've had good luck.
