Got most of the way through, only to get completely blocked by a bug. Even though I completed all the map piece puzzles, some of the pieces never showed up on my map. Many hours wasted.

Different; It would be five stars for design...
I so wanted to rate this 5. It has soo much potential. Beautiful graphics, fun and complex story. Interestingly, differently than all the other HO games I have played, dialogue is only auditory. So you can't play it with the volume off. I like the frequent interaction and interesting dialogue with people. This is all great and would be worth five stars if it didn't have some features which make the game less interesting than others; and it would then be worth four stars but there are a number of glitches. The features I do not like are: there is only one goal at a time. You don't figure out the goals. It specifically tells you what your goal is. You can also lose track or not learn what the goal is if you didn't hear the character talking. Like if the (real) phone rings when it is playing. That's the time to find the walkthrough online. Just once I clicked on a list of all of the goals in the game, but I never managed to access that list again. And because you are doing one goal at a time, items are not available until you need them. So for instance, if you click on the mailbox when you first see it, a close-up appears but instead of giving you a clue and clicking and getting certain objects for later, it says nothing and clicking does no good. Later you will be able to click to get an item where you had clicked before with no result. But there are no cryptic clues; no guessing. So that's just a style thing. The game is beautiful and detailed. And the hints are detailed when they work. Sometimes they just tell you to do it on your own; and other times you click on the hint button to no avail. Maybe that is a glitch. The glitches I encountered were: there are a lot of problems with the interactive scenes where someone talks to you. Such a pity, because it is such a cute feature! Sometimes clicking does nothing. Sometimes it results in a black screen. And sometimes a part of the conversation does not happen. So far this has not been a real problem, just a little annoying. HOWEVER, I have come to the same place as many others. I can't open the cemetery gates. The walk through says I need to first pour bleach into the fountain, but I never got the bleach, which was supposed to be from an HOS. So... If they fix that problem, it's a very good game. I wish I could give it the five stars that the creator deserves for their work.
