Good start, but falls short
Number one gripe: support for iOS versins before 6.0 ceased in mid 2012. This is abysmal. No excuses. Don't buy it. Even if you have iOS 6 now, you could be out of luck when iOS 7 arrives and yOur device is nort upgradeable, the sorry fate with this app right now forst generation iPad owners. Developer has no commitment to a reasonable life span for the app. Good: App works OK as either player or controller. Only a few similar apps support both modes. Number two gripe: cannot connect to remote libraries, only those on local network. Several users asked for, no go. Several other less sophisticated apps allow this. Good: App displays renders music cover art nicely. Number three gripe: display cannot be configured to show lists rather than images with short snippets under the image. Using app with large music library very difficult often unless every item has a cover image the person browsing instantly recognizes. Number four gripe: app does not satisfactorily support multitasking. Frequently the app will only continue to play from a list, in either contoller or player mode, unless it has the focus. User has to leave app with focus, return to Media Connect, and start the next reack manually. This does not always happen, but it happens often enough to be totally annoying. Again, most other similar apps don't have that problem.

This app used to ok and buggy but it worked for the most part. Then they took away playback of all but 2 formats asking you to pay for the rest of the codecs! Horrible... But the kicker is now the thing doesn't even work even after paying for the upgrade which really only makes you pay for functionality you had before the upgrade. Hope this makes sense. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!

Promising start, terrible ending.
My initial experience was quite good, paying for the upgrade became a no-brainer. They they rolled out an update... It broke everything. Nothing in my setup changed, just that one update...now I'm regretting my purchase. Learn a lesson at my expense and look elsewhere. If you do get it to work for you, don't do any updates or you could have the same happen to you. Tested on iPad 4gen and iPad Mini.
