Many mysteries - no support - save your money
I like Instacast --- when it works as you'd expect --- which is true in some cases. But too often, it just frustrates. Problems & mysteries--- Many of the settings are cryptic at best and confusing at worst. For instance --- * Try to download several podcasts and then play them continuously. After weeks trying, I still have not deciphered how to do this basic thing. * Try to set it up so podcasts that have been played are automatically deleted. You would think that the settings "auto-Delete Content: 'Finished Playing' and 'Marked As Played'" would auto delete podcasts, right? Nope -- you're wrong. Your playlist soon becomes cluttered with finished podcasts. * Want to understand the symbols shown on podcasts, like a green triangle, blue dot and an "i"? Sorry, you're on your own -- no explanation. I've deciphered what the blue dot is (not played). I think the green triangle means the podcast has not been downloaded. And the "i"? I can not figure that one out. * Want to understand the multiple pages of options, many seemingly duplicated? Think setting general default options will apply to new subscriptions? Don't count on it. After weeks of use, I'm still finding options on individual subscriptions that differ from what I tried to set as the default. Not to worry you think -- I'll look inline for info. Too bad -- there are no answers to any of the above. OK then, you think, I'll write their support email. Sorry -- they won't answer your (paid customer) request for help. Black hole. Save your money unless you like solving poorly designed interface mysteries. !!!

If you want to access an podcast's archive don't buy this app
I am a huge fan of Instacast 2, which allows you to restore archived podcasts of your favorite shows. Was eager to upgrade only to discover I couldn't go back and listen older podcasts. That was a deal breaker for me. Immediately went back to Instacast 2. Until they add "restore" back, this app will be one star for me.

Early version 3 releases were painful
It functions like a well-tested program now. That wasn't the case in early releases of version 3.

Still the best...but with a minor flaw
I don't mind paying more to support a developer that I like, but please redesign the playback controls. You should not be able to swipe the controls as this leads to accidental swipes when trying to pause or skip. Also please make the controls LARGER, as large as they were in Instacast 1.0. That was something I really missed when Instacast 2.0 came around and it apparently got worse in Instacast 3.0. Once this is fixed it will be a five star app in my eyes.

V3 is basically full-featured, stable, and elegant enough, but some irritations and disappointments remain. 1st, the buttons can be slow to respond, both in UI navigation and also play controls buttons. Imagine trying to pause a video podcast at a certain spot, nut pressing pause doesn't respond until after the moment passes. As though the app or the processor is too busy to bother with user input right now. 2nd, auto deleting watched episodes seems broken, so that I must manually delete every episode after it's done. In fairness, it does seem to auto delete the bulky file, just not the episode listing. But this still means the list grows cluttered. Especially disappointing after I've found and tried all the settings called "auto-delete finished content," "auto delete content that is marked as played," etc. I assume it's a bug they're working on. These 2 irritants are enough to make me consider yet another switch in the unfinished hunt for that elusive really satisfying podcast app. But Instacast is a nearly super good podcast consumption solution. Keep up the good work Vemedio.

Great but ...
Missing the ability to search for a specific podcast, by episode title, from subscribed podcasts. If I can figure out how to do this, will bring to five stars.
