I use this all the time to play movies and TV shows on my computers -- Mac, Linux, and Windows. You have to enable web interface and open the http lua ports to the world. I really like the new feature that puts a check mark next to shows that you've already watched.

Great app, just a little further.
I mainly use the app for playing videos on my iPhone, so I would like to see full screen options when playing a video on the device, and the ability to create folders to organize the files. Other than that, it seems to work the way I've come to expect VLC to run, beautifully.

A terrific remote for VLC Player on your desktop or laptop. But seriously, the new icon for Version 2 is the ugliest thing I've ever seen. Go back to the icon of VLC's traffic cone, guys. Please!!

Great new functions- but!!
I love all of the new addons they have put into this build. However: the app WILL NOT play MKV files. I can play MKV files with FileExplorer both free and paid editions- but not with this app. I suppose because when it comes down to it, this app uses the basic Apple native QuickTime player to play video. So it chokes on MKV content. I would have to convert the files the same way I do it when I import these movies into iTunes- so when it comes down to it, the "player" part of this app is just another redundancy. Good idea though. We all know there are problems with porting a fully functional version of VLC for the iPhone: mostly because most of the programming for VLC is all open source and therefore free. Because of this, legal entanglements prevent VLC for iPhone from ever really being developed. So we have to be happy with these remote apps. Between VLC Remote and this one, VLC Remote is the better remote - but this app is a very close second, and I'm happy to have it plus pay for the extras. Whatever was done to FileExplorer to allow playing MKV files clearly needs to be done here for it to be of any use. =======Previous Reviews======= The Streaming function never worked for VLC 2.0.4, but does in 2.0.5. Although I prefer VLC STREAMER, it's nice to have the ability to stream VLC with another app. The streaming pretty much works instantaneously, this program streams while it processes the video, whereas VLC Streamer makes you wait for the content to be processed. That app allows you to copy the converted media into your device- this, well I haven't seen that. The faster your computer is, the more memory you have, the faster the media will populate for streaming. In a dual core AMD with 3 Gigs Ram, this app starts streaming right away and keeps up with the conversion. The remote function does work well with all versions of VLC, old and new- although I have other VLC remote apps, I like using this one occasionally. I guess the only thing to watch out for is free space being used up by files converted for streaming- this app, through the Remote Gateway Helper app, stores the conversions in your regular windows temp folder (not sure about Mac and Linux). Overall this is a great app, free, and worth paying the extra for the ad-free and streaming, which are priced reasonably.
