Very helpful app
This app walks you through a step-by-step process in order to paint a picture of your current energy profile. This is a great first step towards grasping your personal carbon footprint. The report rolls up all of the information in an easy to understand format. I am very pleased with the Verde app.

no option for air source or geothermal heat pump. Auto input wattage ratings are mildly unrealistic. Inputing Custom names do not save but revert back to "Custom." Suggestions for ways to save money are misleading. Buying a mac-mini isn't going to save me money if I have to buy a monitor for it and the high efficiency washer and dryer I have use less power than the ones I'm recommended to buy, and my electric oven consumes less power (and creates less pollution in the overall process) than an LP/Natural gas oven equivalent. This can be a helpful app for estimating the amount of power you use but not especially helpful for ways in which you can reduce your power consumption.

Not worth the effort
After putting in all the information required, the end result is not veru useful. The final report does not show total annual energy useage or cost for the entire home or for any single item. It would also help to have a bar graph to illustrate the percentage of total annual energy used by each category or device. It also showed some strange results for my analysis. It indicates that I can replace my electric oven and cooktop with zero energy options. I'm in! But it doesn't explain how.

All this does is recommend you get energy star appliances. If you already have them, you can't even tell it that. The site it links to, ACEEE.org has much more helpful information and that, of course is freely available. How is this app supposed to ever be worth $5? I can save you the time inputting the info and exposing it to this company: "Get Energy Star appliances!"
