Great for Earth Day
After reading 50 shades of grey, I decided to take action against climate change. Verde had several great product suggestions, including a solar-powered water feeder for my dog (he is a husky and really thirsty). Verde also provided a great way of understanding carbon emissions - I totally get that trees "breath" carbon and when I reduce energy, I save trees (or carbon). The tree meter really makes this confusing topic more clear. I loved Verde so much that we went together for a bit, but the app was downloaded so much that it "got complicated".

Seems like a good idea but not worth the money!
At best it gives only a rough estimate of your costs, which you can get from the appliances you buy or from the electric company. Our electric company provides daily usage info and other helpful information that is much more useful than this. While getting an estimate of cost for individual appliances is helpful, there is a bug that keeps shutting down the app when you mess around with the list of appliances you have picked. When I tried to remove an appliance, it removed all the ones above it instead and then kicked me out. Good concept to make people aware, but far from helpful.

Very helpful app
This app walks you through a step-by-step process in order to paint a picture of your current energy profile. This is a great first step towards grasping your personal carbon footprint. The report rolls up all of the information in an easy to understand format. I am very pleased with the Verde app.

no option for air source or geothermal heat pump. Auto input wattage ratings are mildly unrealistic. Inputing Custom names do not save but revert back to "Custom." Suggestions for ways to save money are misleading. Buying a mac-mini isn't going to save me money if I have to buy a monitor for it and the high efficiency washer and dryer I have use less power than the ones I'm recommended to buy, and my electric oven consumes less power (and creates less pollution in the overall process) than an LP/Natural gas oven equivalent. This can be a helpful app for estimating the amount of power you use but not especially helpful for ways in which you can reduce your power consumption.
