What a shame!
I have enjoyed the previous version while it lasted. This iPad version is not worth the effort of clicking on it to open it. There is nothing there. A real pity.

What were they thinking?
Another example of ruining a perfectly excellent app. The print edition is impossible to view and navigate. The app now resides in the dreaded newsstand; that creates more clicks to access and the likelihood that I will use it less often. The content of the app side seems skimpier than in the prior version. Doesn't anybody test market this stuff before releasing it? Bring back the old app, please.

Where's the icon?
I like a newspaper to look like the newspaper, so I like this version. Simple and clean. If I want more, I can go to the website, but I don't have to slog through multiple steps just to read the paper, except that I do as there is no icon. The only way I can get to the paper is to go back to the App Store and open the app there. Fix, please! Amended, review. It's now in my newsstand icon, but I can't take it out. Now, I'm more irritated. I don't need micromanagement on where my apps live!

Big Improvement!
All those people rating it poorly because they can't find the icon just need to look in Newsstand. It's right there where it makes the most sense. Great job WAPO. Love it.

Greatly diminished app
Access to the print edition is fine, though slow. But the main app is greatly inferior to the previous version (and to the NY Times app), so much so that I regret loading the upgrade: many fewer articles in each section and absurdly large type. Articles that would have been displayed in the old app (many things on the opinion page for example) are no longer present and can be accessed only by downloading the print version. Unlike some, I prefer a version specifically formatted for the iPad. I would have been quite willing to pay for the old version, but not for this one.
