An OK Beat 'Em Up, But Flawed To No End
I tried the lite version, and I must say I was impressed. The fighting was fun, the colors were vibrant, and the special moves were kinda cool. Naturally, I bought the full version. How dissapointed I was. The control is REALLY awkward. Your guy takes almost a full second to stop moving if you hold the left or right buttons, which is really a problem, and you can't attack while moving. Plus, your guy will randomly do the flip attack, even if the time between pressing the button twice is more than five seconds. I know, I've timed it. The fighting got really stale after 10 minutes, and the stages get sooooo repetitive. Most beat 'em ups are like that, but have variations in the fighting, like newweapons or powers up. This..... just goes on and on and on. I've only made it to level 20, and I have no idea how long it is. The hit detection is horrible, and it's mostly to blame on the controls and AI. They always seem to be standing right on top of you, making them impossible to hit. I only encountered this once in the lite version, and I just thought it was a rare glitch. But no, it happens all the time now. This makes the game nearly impossible if you want to get far, but a new update could easily fix this. The special moves sometimes do less damage than your normal attack, and sometimes they do absolutely nothing, even if you're dead on 'em. The most effective attack is the gun, but it still doesn't do alot. I mean, if you shot some twice in the face from five feet away with a twelve gauge, it wouldn't matter if you are the freakin' Terminator. You're dead. The graphics and music are good, and they can only get better. The blood and dying is well animated, and the music is that kind that can get stuck in your head, in a good way. But I have no idea what the hell the dancing is at the end of every stage. It looks like he's having a damn seizure. It tries to take advantage of some RPG elements, but to me, there doesn't seem to be much of a difference. The same hits do the same amount of damage, and my defense and hitpoints are up to 14 each. Overall, it gets a well-deserved 2. An update is definitely required to stay alive, but I see alot of potential in this game. It just needs a lot more work. A lot.
