Turns your iPod Touch into a portable squeezebox
I've had this app since December and I love it. The most recent change allows the app to keep the connection with the squeeezebox server even if it is put into the background and is not playing anything. As the developer states in the description, the app is best used in combination with something like iPeng to control it. I have streamed FLAC to my iPod via squeezecast while walking around my house with my iPod in my pocket. I've also set in one place for hours streaming FLAC to my iPod while reading. Never have I encountered a hiccup. I'm amazed at how well this app works - and it supports gapless playback to boot!!! It's a bit clunky that you have to start squeezecast, then switch to iPeng, select the squeezecast player, etc. However, this is not even version 1.0! As well as it works, it's well worth putting up with this slight bit of clunkiness. It does what it's supposed to do very well - act as a squeezebox player on you iPod Touch.

Low quality
I purchased so I can stream my entire collection at high bit rates (320kbps). When playing same tracks the iPod sound quality is much better although iTunes downsample it to 128kbps. There is also background hiss and the application UI lags.

Great start for a unique app
This is the only app I can find that works as a player (rather than a controller) for a squeezebox server. It has limitations and problems, but the developer is quite clear about what it does, and does not do, at this point. Also the developer seems very responsive to questions and problems posted in the app forum and has very good plans for further developmoent. For these reasons I give it 5 stars. That said, make sure you read the developer's comments carefully before you buy and make sure you know what you are getting and not getting. You can see the forum for problems that some users have been experiencing and see if these are important to the way you would use the app at this point.

SqueezeCast setup kind of cryptic
No setup instructions, so I had to ask the developer for help via his forum. He provided adequate help, but the setup instructions could have been more specific. I wish it were available in an iPad version, but it works OK.

It's not ready yet in my mind especially if you have other squeezebox players. No squeezebox sync option like with the other players. The UI needs rework and connection issues are still present

Works as advertised...
...which is to say minimally. Features I would want to see in the next update are: - full iPad support - better playlist handling - music library Search - ability to control another player, including podcasts, Internet radio, favorites, stored playlists, etc. - separate IP address fields for local and truly remote access. My server is on a NAT router, so a simple IP address is fine when using my home Wi-Fi, but not when out & about. And the remote IP field should accept a domain name (especially important for dynamic-IP users employing a Dynamic DNS service).
