Great Potential with a Few Tweaks
This is close to a great app, but a few poor interface issues and too-limited set up options hinder it. The biggest issue is the annoying and potentially dangerously distracting dialog that comes up EVERY TIME the map refreshes as you drive that tells you "There's nothing to report!" on the new map. That dialog sits there until you click it. This is just dumb. No one needs to be told there ISN'T anything to report! Less critically but almost as annoying, there's no way to configure how spotacop warns you. All we need is a momentary fade in the music followed by a tone. (configurable tones and the ability to NOT get warned of things like toll booths or weigh stations would be even better.) Instead, Spotacop fades the music, broadcasts some dead air, puts out several warning tones, then sits there. The music never comes back and it really should. Also, if you report a cop location to the app, it then warns you about said cop, turning your music off. That's just a dumb idea. There's no documentation to tell me whether or not this app runs in the background. I THINK it does, but I'm unsure. My pie in the sky feature request would be for some sort of indicator on the map of how long it has been since someone using spotacop has been through that section of road. I'm not in a major metro area, and it seems to me the odds of anyone having spotted a cop ahead of me in the last hour are pretty slim.
