Bravo
I don't usually bother getting free indie games because I don't like wasting my time, but man, I'm glad I took a chance on this one. This game really succeeds in two categories--concept, and powerups. The concept is just one of those strokes of genius that certain developers get sometimes. Take the most satisfying elements of Pac-Man (pellet-gobbling, blue ghost pills, etc) and put them in a randomized space-shooter setting. Perfect. It's like hitting a golfball with a baseball bat and sending it over the horizon. The powerups are similarly inspired. You have some standards (slow time, shrink/grow), some familiars (grey-out, wave bullets), and the downright fantastic (line gun, some that are harder to describe). One highlight is the dual-action magnet that repels everything you want to avoid (enemies, bullets, asteroids) while attracting everything you like (pellets, fruit, ghosts that have turned blue). With this being a free app and no ads or IAPs, I hope this developer is getting rewarded somehow. I'd love to see a for-pay sequel (or update, or beefed-up HD version or whatever), with modern graphics and more game modes. As it stands though, this is a great little game with a lot of peaks and no valleys. Easy recommendation, especially since it's free.
