Should be universal.
Pros: The developer should be allowed to delete the comments from the people who didn't read the description! YOU MUST PURCHASE THE ABILITY TO SAVE. This is a GREAT feature: you get to try the software's functionality before you buy it! iWork apps are $10 each, no trial or lite version. This is only $3 per format. You can try this software out 99% before you buy. Sign in to Google Docs, download those docs, open & edit. Like it, buy it. I only need excel on my phone to fill out my timesheet at work. I tried all of the free/ lite apps out there, and this is the best. It kept my basic formatting and functions. (I downloaded the xls from work, edited in Numbers, export in xls, upload to g-docs, download to Office2Plus. No problems.) For only $3, I purchased the ability to save. From inside the app, I can email my timesheet to the office. You can also "Open In…" with this app from your email, etc. (that didn't work with Documents2) Try it out yourself, but the interface is about as good as it can be on a phone. Easy buttons on the bottom. Great Help section. More formulas that I know what to do with. I haven't really tried extensive cell / text formatting, but I have clicked on the options and there are plenty to choose from including cell borders. Cons: I can't find how to undo in the spreadsheet app. This is very disappointing. There is an undo in the word app, and this is what the Help section showed. You can't save to your Google Docs from inside the app. You have to save locally, then exit the editor to the main menu (of the app, not your phone) click the folderwithadownarrow icon, click Copy (or Move) then choose your G-docs folder. A bit of a hassle, but it must be done, otherwise you risk loosing your work between iTunes syncs. You'd better upload to a cloud storage, and not rely on iTunes backups, since it is VERY easy to loose your in-app-data for ANY APP. You can't restore app-data once you delete an app from your phone. It isn't Universal (this version is not iPad HD). I understand why the developer decided to not make this universal, to make more $, but it is still annoying to have to technically double buy something. If you buy this ($3 for spreadsheets saving) and Sheets2 HD ($6), then it's almost the same cost of buying Numbers (universal) for $10. You can still run this on the iPad, but not even in "Retina" resolution, and it doesn't switch to landscape mode.

Not free!!!
This program is fine for viewing documents, but actually creating a document, spreadsheet, or presentation is a whole different story. You pour so much time and energy into something then click 'save' and tells you that you need to pay AT LEAST $6. If you hit 'save as', the app crashes.

it's free to view documents but to save em you have to buy an extra feature, as much as $5.99. I'll go try an actual free app..

This isn't even as good as a viewer! It will let you pour out effort into your document with no warning anything's wrong, and then you hit "save" and it says "Oops, we forgot to tell you to buy the saving add-on. That'll be $6 please." I'll keep the $6. You go find another customer!
