Still a good app, but not as good
Overall, I love the app, subscribe, and am reading articles on it all day. But in this version, they changed the way hyperlinks work so that if you are scrolling through an article and start your "swipe" gesture on a link, it will open it, even though it is clear that you didn't intend to open the link. Very annoying, especially since when you are scrolling while reading you are not looking at where your swipe gesture is starting. Hyperlinks should only be opened with a "tap". Others have complained about the ads, but I don't see any problem with them. I'm using an iPhone 5 and the ads only take up a tiny portion of the screen at the bottom or top... hardly noticeable while reading articles.

Still Leaves out too Much from print Edition
There are two kinds of readers: Informed and uniformed. To be informed you need to read the Times. The app has expanded greatly over the years, but please allow us to add and delete content posted on the website if that's what we want to read. For instance, the Boomers blog is not available as a reading selection unless you go to the website, yet a number of other blogs are listed and can be deleted from the app if desired. NYT adds immeasurably to my quality of life; it's a good value and reading it is a good use of my time.

Not that bad!
Maybe they updated its functionality but I don't see banner or footer ads like everyone is complaining about. Occasionally a full page. Which is unacceptable to me, a customer paying over $150 A YEAR for the privilege of reading this fine paper. Desperately needs to add comment functionality. Generally lacking a sense of hierarchy and a feeling of what news is Big news and what is minor. But that's industry wide.

Bad UI for hyperlinks
The new UI can't tell the difference between scrolling by the blue hyperlinks in a story and clicking on them. So it makes scrolling through articles a nightmare. If your finger goes near a link as you are 'paging down' off you go- unless you are reading on the subway- in which case you got to a dead 'no connection' page and it's two clicks to get back to what you were reading. As articles are having more and more hyperlinks (for no reason) reading an article on iPhone is now pretty impossible. Needs a fix to look for 'mouse up' to tell difference between a scrolling 'page down' and a tap.

Bad update
This WAS a good app. But now you can't do much of anything from settings and worst if all- I can't share stories by Twitter. Pop-up says the internet connection to Twitter failed. Deleted app, re-installed it. Same pop-up. And there is no place in the iPhone 5s settings to enable Twitter. Had to be done by the app. My iPad is upgraded to iOS 7 and its upgraded NY Times app works fine as before. Bad, hasty iPhone update. FIX IT!!!
