New update is lackluster
This interface is great and it's obviously nice to be continuously aware of what's happening in the world, but NYT removed one of the best features with the new update - the ability to define words right in the app, without wifi. Still will use it but supremely disappointed with this oversight/intended removal.

Night mode is needed!
While i love the articles and blogs the times offers, the fact that there is little customization to the background color makes me want to stop using the app. Please implement a night mode. Make it so we could choose a black background so we can read at night without the disturbing brightness that illuminates my whole room. You might as well add different colors for the background so it's more readable during the day as well. Until you don't add such things i think the app lacks quite a lot of useful tools.

Not ready for prime time
Using version 4.0 on iPhone 5 with iOs 7.0.2 1. App crashes repeatedly. 2. Saved articles prior to this update update no longer load. 3. App crashes repeatedly. 4. If there is no internet connection - there is no content. Content no longer stays on the phone. Forget reading on the subway, an airplane or any other place you can't get wifi or cell service. 5. App crashes repeatedly. 6. You can't change font size in the App without going into settings and changing the font size for everything else on your phone. 7. App crashes repeatedly. 8. The App lives (alone) in the annoying Newsstand folder. For some reason this is more irritating in iOS 7 than it was prior to this update. As before, there is no way to move it. I'd prefer to put the App where I want it without having to make it a two step process to get into the App and a two step process to get out of it. It feels uncharacteristically clumsy. 9. Did I mention the App keeps crashing? When it crashes I find myself back on the breaking news page and then have to swipe through sections and scroll down through headlines to get back to the article I was reading, then scroll down through the article to find my place again - and again and #%@& again! This is too much trouble so I'm deleting the App for now and will read on my laptop. Aside from that. I really like the new layout and how you can swipe through sections not just to the next article. I notice there are more videos imbedded in articles (which I tend to avoid for the most part - when I'm reading I don't want to switch modes, fumble with headphones or audio controls, wait for the video to load, etc.- but that's just me). I also like being able to edit and arrange the list of sections. I'm sure the glitches will get worked out but it is really irritating to be confronted with so many bugs in an App that has long been the one I probably use more than any other on my phone.

Newsstand is the worst. Nyt, I love you, but I'm leaving you for wapo simply because they don't support newsstand and waste my time.

Great paper, okay app
I prefer to use Safari to read the New York Times. In the NYTimes app, the banner navigation system at the top does not recede when reading. Also, the Times app does not allow one to adjust the Font type. I prefer to read Helvetica like an Safari's reading mode. Safari in iOS 7 provides a reading mode that makes for a much more pleasant experience, so I just use the nytimes mobile website instead. In addition, entering and exiting through newsstand isn't required this way either. I just use the "Add to Homescreen" function in Safari. That said, I still had the New York Times app installed. It is good for receiving news alerts.

Bugs with saved articles
My older saved articles show only a title and picture but no article text. Also my saved articles don't sync between my iPad and iPhone at all. Please fix this
