It just keeps getting better!
The latest version is better than ever. A few bugs that snuck in with the last update are gone, and the Times is better than ever. An absolute pleasure! I have to think hard about every dollar I spend, and I had to think hard about springing for this app. On the other hand I put a high value on accurate, well researched, beautifully written journalism, it's a dying breed. Almost extinct! To me, the Times in any form stands almost alone on every count. So I decided to look at my subscription as an investment, because without the times I would be a lot poorer. I don't just mean intellectually poorer. I mean literally dollars and cents poorer. Ignorance got us into the financial hole we are in, and losing one of the last bastions of good, commonsense reporting is something I don't think we can afford. So I went whole –hog, the whole enchilada! The complete digital subscription. After four months what do I think? I think I got more than my moneys worth, much more! The digital times just keeps getting richer, more creative, more informative, and just plain more of a joy to read!

Update icon has bug
Latest update had a frozen icon placed in icon section, but still worked in newsstand. Deleted the app, reinstalled and now a huge image of the front page shows up among the apps. Like a date with a big head, perhaps the Times is expressing their self importance? ;)

Customized sections are buggy
Version 4 is great, but 4.0.2 and 4.0.3 don't handle customized sections properly. For example, Sports and Arts reappear after being removed. App reinstalls and phone reboots don't help.

Crashes a lot
Good interface, but I get a lot of crash logs on my iPhone.

Need reader comments, fewer ads, and better layout
Still no access to comments from readers! This is a big miss that should be corrected: comments should be available upon request when connected to the Internet. There are distracting ads. Finally, the layout on an iPhone looks like a RSS feed, there is no hierarchy of news.

I would even pay to get the old app back. Would anyone else be willing to pay a dollar or two to get back the wonderful NYT app back before they wrecked it with this new version? My wife didn't update the app on her iPad after I warned her. I'm so jealous.
