From limited to useless
Bar at top of screen won't disappear. And now I'm limited to 3 articles per day? It's like NYT isn't aware there are other reputable news sources w/ apps that are far less frustratingly stupid.

The app feels much "smoother" now
Until this update, there has always been something busted about the gesture handling in this app. I like the idea of full screen viewing, but the implementation sucked. It was finicky about recognizing gestures and required a delay between touches for things to work right. That's all fixed now. At the price of a permanent top bar.

Stuck with it through limiting us to only the top 10 daily. Now that I can only read 3 per day I'm done. Deleted.

They took a 5 star app and ruined it
Horrible. Just horrible. Full screen reading is out, new 3 article limits are in, and the mobile subscription is now $200. I'm out.

Do not upgrade!!!
Too expensive. The new version blocks you out after you've read three articles and even if you have a web and tablet subscription you have to pay $20 more for the smartphone subscription. Not worth it! Really frustrating though, you're already paying for the content and then all of the sudden they want you to pay for access to it on your phone. Also, there's ads... Even though you're already paying for the content! Corporate greed!
