UI designer is out thinking himself
The "must turn phone sideways" design is a really bad idea. Think about it. You have to tell the user how to hold the phone? Silly. There's no need either. All of those screens could easily work in portrait. The arrows vs dial for temperature is not a huge deal, but overall this app is not intuitive to use. I stumbled around the whole time trying to find key functionality. This feels clunky and tacked on which is too bad because it should be a centerpiece of the Nest experience. Who is the common user? Someone with 1 house and 1 thermostat? Design around that. All the add a home, add a thermostat stuff is nice but this is not streamlined enough for the average user.

Nother vote for arrows
Bring em back. No where as easy as it was to update. Love my nest. App used to be better.

Great app
No complaints. Does what you need it to do.

Like it when it works
After the latest update the app gives a false impression that it is connected when it is not. I will lower the temperate in the app and there will be no change in the main unit. If I check the app after a while it will show a message that it was disconnected from nest x minutes ago. Bottom line ...this app is not reliable....just frustrating.

I love my nest, but not this app
So I love my nest thermostat. I think it's a huge innovation for something that controls a huge chunk of your energy bills. But I'm not as in love with the app you control it with. First of all, like many have said, the new way to adjust the temperature is imprecise and unintuitive. Mimicking the way in which you adjust the actual thermostat on the wall is not the best solution for how the app should work. Secondly, I fail to understand why my phone has to be in landscape mode to see and adjust other settings/features. I get that landscape mode may allow you to see more data, but most of the time that I'm using my phone, it's in portrait, and mandating me to change orientations to do something simple like turn on "away mode" is annoying. The rest of the app is beautiful minus a few design choices I could live without. Hopefully they will continue to update and improve the app.

Moving fan
I think the app is great for me, I would like to some alert when it kicks on when you are away, and to see the fan icon to be turning when the fan is on. This way you will know the the fan is on, other then that it's just another icon. But anyway the product is great as well as the app. I would say you the app as they go hand in hand. So get the app, and nest please keep making great products.
