Connection issues.
The thermostat is terrific, easily installed and set up. It is tangibly improving our heating performance from the start. The iPad app works well the iPhone app disconnects constantly. The help page suggests it could be the Nest battery or a router issue but that is not the case. Given the overall quality of the product I assume this will be resolved quickly. I look forward to re-reviewing it.

Love it.
I purchased a gen 1 over eBay. I've wanted one of these for a while, but couldn't stomache the $250. Picked up a brand new gen 1 for $180 shipped. The only issue I had was the gen 1 was an early gen 1 with early firmware load. There is no easy way to get to the current update. The unit has to perform each update in sequence. And, you can force or trigger the updates. They appear to update on their choosing. This was confirmed by support which I don't usually need to telephone but was concerned by the high temp reading of the thermometer. Once it completed about five updates, it worked great. The thermometer was incorrectly reading the temperature due to the heat from the updates, but after it sat for a while unused, I believe it is now accurate. I've had good luck logging in and connecting. This was a concern voiced by most of the negative reviews of this app. I've had good luck.

Unstable App
Version 3.0.2 is totally unstable on my iPhone 4, constantly losing connectivity with Nest thermostat and it crashes like no other app I have ever seen. I have over 100 apps on my phone, most use internet connectively and none of them crash. Disconnect, crash, crash, disconnect, disconnect, disconnect, crash. Very disappointing for a product that seems so promising to have such a completely unreliable software interface. If you read the who's who behind the Nest company, very accomplished persons with amazing backgrounds, it is inconceivable that they would allow an app as bad as this to make it out into the marketplace. It will ruin the NEST brand if not fixed quickly and permanently. And then there is the thermostat... Version 2, a truly beautiful product both aesthetically and from an engineering perspective. Well thought out design. I need to mention that this app is a problem mostly on my iPhone 4. On my iPad 3 and new iPad Mini the app runs fairly well, stays connected and crashes infrequently. But it does lose connection and does crash, just not very often. The iPhone app is seriously messed up.

Created an account via my computer; have been unable to log on or access anything. This app says I do have an account. Wonderful experience during install and set-up of the hardware; went sour when trying to access the computer/iPhone/iPad app. Giving up; going to bed. Will try to resolve tomorrow; hopefully tech support will be available on Sunday. Update... The server was down, but I was still having trouble when the server was back up; possibly a corrupted user file on the Nest server. Tech support helped me delete my old account and start over; all has been great since then (Sunday, yesterday). All is good! Love my 2 Nests, and the apps are great, too. Thumbs up to C. in tech support!

Nest Review
The Nest unit works great, but loading the app has been fruitless. I created an account and it will not let me access the website! A permanent fix is desperately needed or you will loose customers!

No access
There is no access to nest online or within the nest iOS app. I'm able to create an account and verify my account after receiving a confirmation email; however, I cannot log into the site or app after that. The thermostat is connected to wifi and working properly. Just no online apps or access at this time. This was a big reason for purchasing the nest to begin with - frustrating to say the least.
