Great concept, poorly executed
I use this app to play music from my pc or my iPhone on a wireless Sony speaker. It wasn't clear whether the media directory was according to iTunes or WMP. Once I began figuring out what I was controlling and how, I found that adds to existing playlists don't always seem to appear, and some songs mysteriously get dropped from playlists. Finally, "rendering" music is slow. Sometimes I close the app but a minute later an unplayed song decides to play itself anyway. Bottom line: great idea, buggy as heck.

Media server fail
I purchased this app with the idea of watch movies from our media server on the iPad. It has never worked properly and the software leads you to believe that this is due to the fact you have the free version. So I purchased the full version and the flex player. Yes, I am able to play the files but at what end. The movies don't start at the beginning and even if they did the buffering is so slow the video is choppy and unwatchable. So the app pretty much is useless but was expensive so I come back every update to see if any better. It isn't! Save your money!

After setting up my desktop for use with my new LED TV to stream movies, music and photos, I decided to look for the same functionality on my iPhone and I found this app to work best... Awesome, thanks.

Love it!
Once I started using my TwonkyMedia server that was built into my router, I soon realized that it would be awesome to access it from my iPad. After trying several apps, I found that this one was the best. As a software developer, I notice when things aren't right. I am pleased to say that most of my complaints have been addressed by the numerous updates that have been released. Keep up the good work!

What's the point?
To stream from the iTunes library to your iPhone / iPad -- music, video and photos -- just set-up iTunes sharing. Or, use AirVideo (not DLNA, but excellent and converts avi dv videos and other formats). I can't play my iTunes music using this app as I guess my purchased music is DRM protected (what a pita DRM is...). So, I can use iTunes sharing instead or sync more music to my iPad. This might be useful as a DLNA server so a DLNA TV could play videos and other media from an iOS device. But, videos don't seem to be accessible to DLNA clients at least in the free version. The description says videos require a cable hook-up (I guess the HDMI adapter). Why do I need this app to do that? So... I just don't get the purpose of this app. Oh, and the 5 star ratings... these are annoying aren't they?
