Wow- this is worthless
Terribly inconsistent which makes it useless for someone who needs to be notified without fail, even when you're asleep. Crappy app!

Server forwarding much less secure & reliable
I didn't know that in order for this app to work ALL your email must be forwarded through the mailtones mail server. I don't like this because of two main reasons: 1. Much less secure. By forwarding your email through another server there are many more chances for the email to be read or intercepted. Are we to trust the people who administer this server with our email? Why should we? How do we know our email isn't being forwarded through a server in another country somewhere? 2. More chance for email to fail. The more routes your email must take the more of a chance it won't reach you. It appears that if nothing else in your routing system fails, a failure with Mailtones server will completely stop your email because of this forwarding requirement. There are so many "what if" situations with this it's impossible to foresee them all. What if: their server fails, their ISP fails, they don't pay their bills on time, they go out of business, their dog chews on their wiring, they have a power failure... Reliability is completely unknown in this case. Our email is dependent on their ability to cover all those different facets. Sure, our email can fail because of any of those reasons above, but with normal routing, email is passing through routes that have a known degree of reliability. With mail tones, we have no idea where our mail is going, who is looking at it, and how reliable the servers, connections, and routes are. Email is not secure to begin with. But to add this degree of insecurity to it is analogous to parking your car in a known high theft area, leaving your keys in it and putting up a sign that says "Free Car." You're basically giving your email away in a random manner. Now if I'm wrong about any of this I would like to know about it and see a response. I would like to see all of those points addressed in detail. Exactly where is our email is going? How reliable are the servers? How privacy is maintained? etc. Had I known about this forwarding requirement up front, I would not have downloaded this app. No way. Now I feel that I just lost $2.99 since I will never allow my email to be forwarded through additional servers. My email is too valuable for that. Mailtones is a great idea, but very poor execution.

Works perfect
I have exchange too, so whomever said it won't work isn't entirely correct. I really love the popup notification too!

Not what you might think
Have to forward your email to them and back to you. In corporate that is considered a security risk. Wasted $3 :(

Save your money
This RARELY works. Even sending directly to the email they provide, rarely does a notifiy to the phone, and when it does it does it when it feels like it. Usually from 1-30 minute AFTER the mail arrived on my phone. Save your money. This was a nice try, but it doesn't work reliably.
