a little difficult to set up if you don't know what you're doing. once it gets set up, it's perfect!

Handy & Simple
I'm pretty much brand new to IRC. I need to use it, as of January 2011, monthly for a business meeting. I found this app great for my needs. I attended and participated in a meeting of nearly 90 minutes with no trouble: didn't disconnect once. I didn't try multitasking and didn't let the phone "time out" so I can't say how that would work out. If you need a way to connect on the fly this app will serve you well. Even being a novice at this I had it up and running in about three minutes, including surfing to find out how to enter the server name I needed to use.

Decent and free
Considering it's free, it's a great app to have on hand for when you want to chat on the go. The recent update allowing many standard commands was great, but the fact that they weren't there from the start is annoying, and /me commands (and probably more, though that's the big one) still aren't supported, and the way they're handled from others doesn't seem to retain the feeling of an action. Still, not a bad app.

Awesome. Simple and clean.
This destroys colloquy, IMO. It has multiple connection support and also does auto nickserv on networks like freenode. The interface is clean and simple. It seems to handle multi tasking well, too. Best of all this is free.

It gets the job done, but it needs lot of work.

Best free client available.
While it's certainly no gem, this client gets the job done somewhat decently. There are some issues as mentioned in other reviews such as lack of query tabs, and this app seems to like to disconnect randomly on top of that. Bold, italic, and color support as well as auto-identification would be nice as well. If you're in need of a free client, this is the one to pick. A shame Rooms isn't free anymore, like I hear it once was.
