I'm fine paying for software updates that improve my life. This is an update that promised to fix bugs with sync and the poor usability on the iPad with a fresh coat of paint. Unfortunately it does neither as sync does not work at all, and the app consistently crashes. I moved to Apple's podcast app which this surprisingly makes look stable and thoughtfully designed.

Great update
Great new app, I'm happy with it for now. I liked to pay for Instacast again, I just have to support the developers behind this app. Everything works great for me, also like the new icon :)

App is still in beta.
Account sign ups don't work, picking up your subscriptions from the last version does not work. The backend needs a lot of work. I can say that the iPad layout is much better than the last version. The design at least is a step in the right direction, a small step.

3.0 is mere interface improvements, start-over
I have always been satisfied in Instacast. I listen to podcasts constantly, and it gives me direct control over every detail of my listening experience. The developers promised a new experience in 3.0, including new cloud sync, an universal app, and interface improvements. They have fulfilled each of these promises. And done them well. But in my eye, there aren't quite enough refinements to the interface. It's still very plain and stale, which is fine, just not with the new $5 price tag. The same stands with the cloud sync. The real reason for the new $5 price is the universal app. This is great news to new users, but unfortunate for current customers. I have purchased both the old iPhone and iPad apps, and now find myself purchasing a separate version of the same app, save a few interface improvements. In the end, it's unfortunate that we, the current customers, have to pay for a mistake the developers of Instacast made from the beginning: offering two separate iPad and iPhone apps. Version 3.0 is a wonderful starting place for new Instacast users. Version 3.0 is a $4.99 apology card to current, maybe now divorced, users.

Works great
Coming from downcast, this seems more straightforward and plenty fast.

Can't Access Old Podcasts
This feels more like a beta than a stable build, I would wait for the updates to roll out before purchasing. For some reason the older podcasts aren't showing up in the historical list? There is no way to download or even view them. Sync seems really buggy and is constantly accessing the network. The interface is pretty much v2. UPDATE: I have deleted the app and re-installed it to try and see if it would correct the issues and now it sits there saying it is syncing. So, I think that it may be an account/service issue.
