Fantastic fun & a great accomplishment!
A truly playable, useful musical instrument! Impaktor will turn your device into that. After a little tweaking to the sensitivity, your device basically becomes a contact mic, allowing you to play on different surfaces as if they were the instrument (and you can cook up some wild stuff with it's onboard tweaks, filters and effects). Powerful, useful and totally playable. A true accomplishment! Don't hesitate on this one!

GARBAGE!
Needs an INPUT GATE w/ THRESHOLD! Mic is waaaaay too sensitive. The mic is so sensitive, it plays itself more than I play it. MIDI would be nice too.

Awesome! But...
The lack of midi implementation, or even on-screen pads makes this unusable in any setting other than for very simple beat-making for ideas. With a drum synth as powerful as this, I'm constantly frustrated because I can't use any of these sounds with my band when we play live because of the mic's sensitivity, unless I want to go through the hassle of audiocopy. A professional-quality drum synth should have a formidable trigger setup for a professional setting. The concept of the dynamic velocity of the mic is great, but useless outside of the boundaries of a toy. This could be so much more, beepstreet! Get on that midi!

Don't know much about synths
But man, is this fun to play with. If you like drumming or tapping out rhythms on anything, this app is a ton of fun to play with. Gets velocity better than any other drums on iPad since it derives it from how hard you actually hit the surface rather than relying on the unreliable screen tapping methods (which don't really work ever). There is a lot of customizability here, too, and though I am unqualified to comment on its quality it seems deep and powerful.

Increible

Whatcha waitin' on?
Git on it! Best five bucks I've spent in a while. I have too many apps, but when I found out what this does, I had to have have one more. But that's it! This time I mean it! If you don't beleve an anonymous total stranger, check with music app guru Tim Webb at discchord.com. He finds it awesome, and it is not easy to pry that word from him when it comes to apps. A beginner can start to have fun after checking with the manual; intermediate and advanced folks can get started immediately and will be amazed at how much sophisticated tweaking can be done.
