Great update. App is easy to use.
Great app. I love the recent improvements. The larger thumbnails are wonderful addition. Keep doing a great job. One of the best apps I have ever bought.

Update is horrible
A) bring back the home button B) Why take that nifty transition into the next comic when finishing the current one? C) resizing thumbnails doesnt constitute a difference between views... List view should not have thumbs.

DON'T UPGRADE!
I regret so much I upgraded to the latest version, design is horrible and everything is so big meaning you have to scroll more. Maybe settings for preview size? I really hate this new JUMBO interface. Please make this app my favorite again! :(

Stay away!
Updated review: whenever there's an update, I do hope for the best. Instead, I got a crash bug that hits right after the splash screen. So… forget all that stuff in my old review, even if it's there you'll never get to see it. Maybe next time... (Also, thanks to the advice to un- and re-install, the update wiped out my collection once again. Shame on me this time, I guess.) Old review: Summary: developers have learned to code sadness in objective-C. Hope you love renaming and dragging files! Pros of new update: added a feature to go directly from one comic to the next, like in other readers. Cons: simple comic reading app replaced with needless file sorting game that includes reader. Sure, there's a minority reporty interface for sliding comics around, but there's also a baffling response to file names to assure you'll need to use it. Cbr and cbz files need to be converted instead of native support, of course, and cleverly, support has been dropped for the trick the auto-sort feature required in the previous version. No new version of the file converter though, which will automatically insert tildes the new update can't use. Cons to upgrading: if you're lucky, it will only jumble and shuffle your existing collection. Some users have their collection not deleted, but made invisible to the app (it's still on the iPad taking up space, just not accessible) Devoted users are advised to get a second or part time job then take a vacation day to spend time alphabetizing digital comics. Hopefully this won't be necessary in the NEXT version, when that one wipes out your collection again. All in all, a bold move to encourage comics fans back into comic shops and toward paper editions.

Disappointed
I love Comic Zeal. I've been using it for about a year now and it's one the main reasons I even keep an iPad. The new interface is mind bogglingly ugly and dysfunctional. First of all, the high contrast white background is a serious issue especially for a reading app; at least the wood paneling lent the interface a bit of warmth. Thumbnail sizes and wasted screen space are disorienting, the old interface made navigating hierarchies a snap but this one has been severely dumbed down ... Hard to even tell which part of my collection I'm looking at. I find myself constantly editing series names by mistake because instead of opening the series when I touch with my right thumb, it goes into edit / text box mode. Why would you put a series icon in a huge white band across the screen and then use 90% of that area for editing the series name, and 10% for navigation? I hope the talented team at comic zeal will take some time to bring back the usability all of us are used to, and not just blindly try to match iOS 7 aesthetics.

Just not good anymore.
Comic Zeal used to be my favorite app but the new redesign has really broken it. I really respect the creator of the app and how passionate he seems to be about his products, but this just doesn't seem to be a well thought out design. It's buggy now and the new UI makes scrolling through comic series a nightmare. A minimalist UI design could be very cool - and I'm not adverse to a new visual direction...but this isn't it. This was once a premium app, but it's just not worth it anymore. There are better and cheaper alternatives now.
