Good app, needs a bit more time to cook
This is a great irc app in that it meshes with the osx version quite well, but random crashes make for usability issues at times. A few more versions will (hopefully) fix the issues.

Needs work
This app needs some work. 1) The app freezes when you switch back to it from another app and hangs for a good 5-10 seconds before responding again. 2) The app will hang when you hide/show the keyboard. This hang usually lasts for 5-10 seconds as well and gets annoying fast. Other than these two issues this app is great.

I got this app for my iPad several months ago because I use IRC a lot and have had a reasonably good experience with the computer version of Colloquy. I continue to use both versions - they work well enough that I don't need something else, but the mobile version has a few issues. 1. Intermittently it will freak out, especially if I am doing a lot of tabbing between apps, to where the "who's here" list freezes, even when people join and part the channel. Recently I have not had that issue because Colloquy has crashed as soon as someone joins or parts while it is in freak out mode. 2. Text color support is one-way. I can see colorful messages, but I am unable to add color to my messages. 3. As another review mentioned, the timestamp has no option to display to-the-second accuracy. It also does not update on channel info like joins, parts, promotions and demotions. This is only noticeable on channels that are quiet for a few minutes, though. Mostly good, but a few (minor) issues.

Great for remote monitoring
It just works, unlike the other IRC apps. Allows me to connect as op and monitor my channels. Would like to see a feature to add favorite servers to the default list.

Better than expected
I actually strongly dislike Colloquy for OS X, due to its many bugs, missing features, unresponsive developers, and utter lack of any major feature change in probably 5 years... but i was surprised by the iPhone version. It is not as bad as i expected at all. It has a decent amount of options (you have to go into Settings from the main menu to access them) and seems to be pretty reliable and functional all around. Two issues i noted though: (1) The non-dark themes are sort of ugly. Who decided to make the nick colours brown and orange? Honestly. (2) There's no way to get exact time stamps. The closest you can get is having it add a HH:mm stamp once a minute (on a separate line). I also can't speak to the responsiveness of the developers. Judging by (a) my experience with the desktop version, (b) some of the reviews, and (c) the fact that as of this writing the app hasn't been updated in over 7 months, i would say that they are probably not to be relied upon. If i had encountered a specific issue where this was a problem i would probably be giving this a 2/5, but i guess it's unfair to do it pre-emptively, so 4 it is.
