Irc on my iPhone!? Amazing! Can't say anymore than that.

Current version buggy
First of all, this is a decent IRC client. But why the mandatory 5-minute timeout with no ability to change this at all? If Colloquy weren't so slow at connecting it wouldn't be such an issue. If multitasking didn't exit it wouldn't be such an issue. If batteries lasted forever... Anyway, latest version appears to be riddled with bugs. Beware push notification. Upon re-entering the app after a push notification (which I dismissed at the time), it crashed AND lost the message that was addressed to me! Somewhat less than useful, really.

Standard IRC client, few frills, lots of bugs
Not a bad IRC client as such things go. It seems hard to find a food one. Colloquy is fair, better than most, which doesn't say much. On the iPad, it has an annoying bug that hides the text chat pan beneath the keyboard until you minimize the keyboard and then reopen it, which is frustrating when you switch between chat sessions a lot. At least it is iOS 4 multitasking aware, and as far as the IRC protocol, it is a solid client.

Awesome best value.
Those guys are pushing updates all the time and this app has a simple UI yet so powerful. Also works great with iOS 4.2 multitasking (except for a little keyboard glitch which was easily fixed). I can definitely recommend this app if you use irc regularly.

Persistent Issues, No Fixes
I have been using Colloquy for quite some time now. Overall it's good. The interface is pretty. Most things work well. However, there is an issue with this app remembering passwords under the server connection settings. If you connect to a bouncer such as ZNC that requires the use of a server password this is incredibly frustrating. I have to enter the password at least once a day, although in some cases it saves the password under the password field beyond the first time I connect, invariably at some point the data is lost and the password is cleared and I have to re-enter it for the umpteenth time. I am so fed up with this at this point that I would do just about anything to have it fixed. In fact I would pay 10x the price for this app if it didn't have this issue. Yes, it's that annoying. Please, dev team, hear me: fix this bug!
