This is great!
So many times, I've spotted an intriguing wildflower and wish I knew more about it. I never wanted to lug a field guide around me. This app fits the bill perfectly. It even lets me store any flower pics I snap with the phone. A great, well-made app!

Great app, just like the other Audubon apps. I've bought them all. Now I have a full set of field guides in on tiny package. I especially like the ability to search by flowering times.

Audubon Wildflowers
Pretty but poorly done interface. Needs work. Cannot search by Latin names. Cannot "browse" by color! (search by color is provided, but is more cumbersome) Browse by Family only allows common names, not a "Pro" feature. The search function only allows five criteria, and one, "shape" is oddly formatted as a scrolling list, while the others are presented as check boxes. This might be a good app after an update or two, but I would recommend holding off 'til then.

Not up to Audubon standards
I buy most of the good iPhone nature apps meaning more than 3 stars. I so wanted this to be the best app for flowers. It's not. Look at the very first flower - the Adam's Needle. The photo is so poor you can't see the flower! And there is only 1 photo of it. The rest of the content is equally uneven. Many flowers are missing range maps. The text is good but just overly long for such a tiny screen. The search is just not up to the standard I expect if Audubon - it lacks depth. Like Shape just gives a list of 6 names - there are no graphics showing the shape of leaves or flower petals. You can't search by state - just large regions like northwest or zip code. Who remembers the zip for states? Lazy? Then we have the interface. The buttons are too small but what I want to know is why does it shoe an ad for the other Audubon apps every time it starts up? There are better flower apps. CAWildflowers has a fantastic search feature. Flowerpedia has a better interface and wonderful photos.

Great App
This app is great. Easy to use and very helpful in helping identify wildflowers. I can't wait to post some of my pictures on AudubonGuides.com.

Much is left to be desired
Unfortunately, I found this application to be extremely unstable on my 3G. It crashes often without any warning. Besides, one cannot search for a species using its scientific name, rendering the application to be more of a gimmick than a serious tool for plants lovers. In addition, the number of species is small compare with what's available in north America. Just as an example, the flatsedge (cyperus) genus is missing, save one species. it may be OK for those having only vague, casual, interest in wild plants, but it is of limited use for all the rest of us having interest in Botany.
