I would not recommend this ap. I have yet to find it useful. The search feature is useless. When I've used it, I've gotten too many possibles to sort through or it's come up with 'no matches'. A good old fashion field guide is so much better. I can't believe Audubon put their name on this ap.

'Audubon' Says it All
When the venerable name 'Audubon' is on any type of nature publication, you expect a certain level of expertise and reliable information- and the series of Audubon reference materials in the app store meets that criteria and surpasses it. The ebooks are very well put together and organized to provide a quick and easy way to identify the various subjects covered by the ebooks. And it doesn't stop at identification. They also give you a plethora of information on the flora or fauna species you are identifying. In turn you have a complete & accurate reference for most types of plant & animal life in a very clear and easy to use media. Mr. Audubon would have been proud to have his name on these ebooks. His biggest regret would be that they were not available for his studies when he was drawing all the bird species that he drew & studied!

Great resource
I've always had Audubon print books around. Now I have the advantage of being able to electronically search! Top notch electronic publication.

The identification filters are too technical for the average person. One should be able to begin the ID search by the flower's color, but this is not one of the basic searches in this app. I have even entered a flower's name and resulted in "No Matches". I do not recommend this app unless you are a botanist.

Two big flaws
Info is good, as are all the photos once you select the thumbnail. This is my major complaint, the thumbnails are virtually useless for identifying what you are seeing ( this is true for all these Audubon apps). The second flaw is that there are no good keys for winnowing down what you are seeing. So, you wind up spending a lot of time hunting one by one for the species you're looking at. For example, I saw a blue dragonfly. After putting in the location and general color, there were still dozens of choices and no way to pick the right one without opening all the thumbnails one at a time. If I had a key (eg: wings with no spots, two spots, more spots, etc) this would not be such a problem. App would be 4 stars with sharper thumbnails, 5 stars with a few keys to narrow down the search. Overall I would not buy the Audubon apps again without these fixes unless you already know most species you're interested in and just want some basic info about them.
