I paid good money for this app!
I paid good money for this app. At the time the database was relatively small but I bought it in good faith. I am using a second generation iPhone 3g that can only run iOS 4.2.1. All the new updates are no longer available to me. I can't imagine any special feature of iOS 4.3 that this app needs. One star because I can no longer use the app.

Perfect on hikes
This adds a new dimension to hikes. Excellent.

Poorlymade, poorly maintained
Lacks most of the native western coast trees, and has usually only one photo for a tree, which is pretty much useless. For a ten dollar ap, I was extremely disappointed, especially when my free ap out-performs audubon on regally basis.

Good start
Price is a bit high but i would pay it if these items were addressed. 1. Inconsistent and missing pictures, some species only have a picture of bark or of flower, all pictures should include leaves and buds as these are needed for identification. 2. Searching mechanism does not limit searches properly, if you pick toothed ovate leaves, your search results displays smooth leaves, triangular leaves, etc. It should be strict on terms of search and limit search results properly. Aside from that its a pretty nice package and im hoping that these items are fixed.

Don't bother
I really want to like this app., but every time I try to ID a tree I have better luck with Google 100% of the time.

Terribly inaccurate!
If you are thinking you can use this to identify in the wild, .....Uh ...... Wrongo! App has an advanced search feature that lets you click on leaf type, shape, texture, flower type & color, bark type & texture, etc. which could be used, one would think, to make id ultra fast and precise. Well if it worked it would be great, but it doesn't. Seems if you try to pick more than two features of a tree, it will say "unknown". You must go through 20-100 different trees manually, if you want to find out exactly which tree you have. Overpriced as well. Don't go by "itunes top picks" either. Thats the only reason I picked this one over the others, and was very disappointed.
