Extremely disappointed
I was expecting a version similar to the print version of the Audubon Field Guide to Trees. I really don't understand the purpose of this app; it seems like it was designed for someone who is proficient at tree identification, which defeats the purpose of a field guide. Unlike the book version, there are no pictures of the bark, and no close-up pix of the fruit. When you bring up a species to view, there is a button for pictures, but there are no pictures other than the "gallery" pictures, which are very poor, as they are not close enough. It is not set up like a field guide at all. Until they have a revision which even compares to the print version, save your money and buy the book.

Ok but needs more photos
The interface and descriptions are great, but the photos are severely lacking. Some species only have one, many don't have a clear bark shot, some don't even have a good shot of the leaf, and there are almost no shots of buds or twigs, making it almost useless for winter ID. Bur oak, for example, does not have a photo of its most distinguishing characteristic, the acorn. I guess it's an ok value for $10 when compared to the higher price of the hard copy, but I was expecting more. The number of photos would probably need to be at least doubled to make it really useful. The addition of illustrations would also really help, probably even more than additional photos.

Ver helpful to have so much in mobile device - especially for a nature photographer
This app, along with the other Audubon apps, is VERY HELPFUL as it means I can carry all the Audubon info with me as I travel. There is a ton of info and I especially like the images.

Must Have!!!!!
Very intuitive app. So much quicker than having to slog through a printed guide when I'm trying to find something. Also a great place to store my images and notes. Well worth the price! Keep up the good work!

Content is lacking. App navigation is horribly clunky. Way too crash prone. Search fails to retain previously entered criteria, so if you want to narrow your search, you must re-enter all the search criteria from scratch. FAIL! I hope next version is vastly improved. If not, then Audibon should contract the app to the Mitch Waite (iBird) group. The iBird app has set the bar very high for the field guides. This one though would rate poor no matter. I expected at least as good as the hardcopy. Not even close. Too much missing content, and lacks organization, no systematic photo documentation scheme. Suggestions: Add "family", "bark type", "Autumn color", "size", "evergreen or deciduous", "flower color", and "wood characteristics" to available advanced search criteria. Include search for immature forms for bark criteria. Each entry should provide in portrait format images of the full range of applicable seasonal entire tree/shrub along with folliage, bark, and twig-form close-ups. Also provide folliage and bark images for immature stage. Allow simple checkmarking or favorites tab. See iBird!
