Jack of all trades, master of none
This is a decent app. It's best not to think of it as a replacement for a thorough local field guide on any specific type of life, but rather as a supplement you'll always have with you in the field (I can't be bothered to lug books around as I'm usually already lugging a dslr). To those who couldn't figure out how to get back to the main page that lists all the guidebooks, simply double tap the home button in the bottom left corner. No need to quit the app.

Great for Oregon!
We've just moved to the Pacific NW (Oregon) from Texas. I'm a field biologist by training and this app is spot-on. Great job!

Pretty cool
Have been reading thru the descriptions. Quick reads. Some interesting tidbits. Certainly not an intense reference, but fun.

Unbelievable value
Contains most of the information of at least eight separate field guides, including mammals, plants, birds, insects, and sea creatures. Each of the regional field guides is a treasure.

Love it!
I live in the country, and we have a lot of wildlife on our property, so I use this app constantly to identify birds, frogs, bugs, plants, and little creatures that live in the pond, like salamanders and newts. I like that the app has all those categories, not just birds or whatever. As far as the complaint about the "back" button... There IS a back button, as well as a "home" button in each section that will take you to the main search page for that category. So, maybe I'm misunderstanding the complaint, but it's never been a problem for me. So, thumbs up! 👍👍👍 Great app!

Good ... Now Make it Better
This is virtually the only plants and animals app. Even without competition, it is pretty good as minimal, basic guide. It could be a lot better. Add a few thousand species (especially plants), fill in more of the empty bird calls, provide a real back function and a little smarter search function, not one that returns "not found" if you miss one letter in a three-word name.
