Great app for bird enthusiasts. You get what you pay for.

Meets my goals
My goal for this app is two-fold. To help me identify the birds I see and then a spot for recording those sightings. This app does both very well. Highly recommended!

Login required
My sister had an earlier version of this that was much better. It allowed you to make a list for your own use without being logged in. Now you need good wireless access to add a bird to your own list. I would gladly buy the older version if it were made available. It was a lot of fun and a great resource. This version is of much more limited use.

Overall a decent app
Overall, I think this is a decent app. It does have a glitch with the postings every now and then. Those can be frustrating. I would like to be able to write in my own location which is not an option. As someone else mentioned as well the Life List could be changed. Last, I have had issues posting before and when I came back to post my sightings it would not capture the right day and time even though I changed it. All of these negatives can easily be outweighed though by this app's marvelous photos, range info, songs and other valuable information. For a beginner such as myself it has been a great asset.

When you all first came out with this, it really was the best one out there for ease of use and listing. I cannot believe that you would require a log-in to keep a list now - what is the point of that? I am in the middle of nowhere on a hike and want to keep a list - and I am supposed to be logged in to do so? Quite ridiculous and completely frustrating.

Wonderful app, slight glitch for iPad
This is a great app for birding. One glitch, however, for the IPad. The page orientation feature does not work properly and this seems to occur after the advanced search feature is used. I figured this out by reading another reviewer and I did what he suggested and uninstalled (deleted) the app and then reinstalled it. It works fine now, but I am staying away from the advanced search until they put through an update to correct this.
