Bank and app need improvement
App allows for deposits by taking a photo of a check but doesn't allow user to track status of deposit: 'pending', will deposit is 'x' number of days, etc. Only way to confirm deposit is by calling bank. Additionally, chatting on Ally's web site will result in the user being logged off if the chat last more then a minute (a pop-up warning would be great or a way to resume the chat without having to start over). Gave Ally two stars as customer service and rates are good to very good. Maybe someday their app and web site will follow?

Needs updating
This app needs an update badly. I can't use it because there are missing elements. Fix it please

Fails at critical function
The mobile check deposit function doesn't work. If you downloaded the app for that function you wasted your time. Otherwise, it's an ok app and the other transaction functions work as expected.

PIN please
Would like to request using PIN to logon from app. I use Mint to check balances because it' s easier on their app because they allow a PIN.

Needs improvements
First off - if you need to do "real banking" - look elsewhere. Ally for some inexplicable reason does not allow you to do same day transfers with another Ally bank customer (Unless you are listed on the other account) you must use their popmoney service which takes 2 business days. I have been with many other banks - never run into this issue. Next, You can only deposit 15k in funds over the course of one month - can you imagine a brick and mortar getting away with this limitation? Not likely. Also, the mobile deposit feature is clunky and the processing times are horrendous in the age of check 21. Fourth - Sorely needed is a quick pin login (see paypal & usaa). All of that said - It seems like Ally and it's developer nailed the fundamentals here. The app is intuitive and does most of what a banking app should. It's not (yet) bogged down with gimmicks and other superfluous features. Hopefully Ally will listen to its customers and invest in and improve this app and it's services.
