It's got a lot of words, but...
I think the app is probably great for advanced students of English, and by that I refer to exclusively those who are studying English as a second language. It indeed has a vast collection of words but the definitions are not particularly comprehensive. In fact, they're very, very, basic. Nothing wrong with that. It's useful for what it's designed for. But if you're looking for a resource that offers complex definitions, etymologies, variable definitions, etc., I'd stick with the ODE & OTE. I just don't want someone to buy something that doesn't do what they need.

Best dictionary app..
I've been using it since it came out way back when on the iPhone and was happily surprised to find an iPad version last night. But being a 5 star app already in my eyes I've got a few feature requests to make this app 100%. 1) Get rid of the action button in the top left and replace it with a plus since the only two available actions are "add bookmark" and "cancel". It would make the workflow muchhh smoother. 2) Fix the orientation issue, please! Even when AED is backgrounded via iOS multitasking, it always starts in portrait then cumbersomely reconfigures to the appropriate orientation. Make it so it runs consistent upon start up whenever the app is launched. 3) The bookmarks and history lists could be so much more useful by instead of displaying mere pop ups of the words to going to a new full screen layout displaying all the words with definitions and all other informations. 4) Lastly, it would be super awesomely useful to have iCloud support between the iPhone and iPad versions to sync history and bookmarks lists so I don't have to manually do it everytime I add a new word. Thank you, I hope you take my ideas and issues into consideration as I am of the opinion that these four ideas will make your dictionary apps surpass all offerings in the AppStore and beyond.

Replace your reference library.
Combination dictionary, thesaurus and idiom finder. Clean layout and browser-like interface give you a plethora (look it up in AED) of links and the ability to backtrack your findings. Fast and self-contained. + 196,000 entries. + Contains idiom definitions + Speaks pronunciations - Tends to open in portrait mode all the time - Some entries don't have a ton of responses
